Annexes A, B, and C (normative) (See annexes in IEEE 1278.1)

Part of a set of standards and recommended practices for DIS application. Each recommended practice amd standard in the set describes one or more of the elements that constitute the DIS environment. The set of standards and recommended practices, as a whole, define interoperable simulated engagement environment. Also defines the data messages, known as PDU's that are exchanged on a network between simulation applications. Messages are organized within specific domains called protocol families. Protocol families included are Warfare, Entity Information/Inter- action, Simulation Management, Logistics, Distributed Emission Regeneration, Entity Management, Radio Communications, Minefield, Synthetic Environment, Simulation Management with Reliability, Live Entity Information/Interaction, and Non-Real Time.
