This method is intended for the determination of phosphorus at concentrations not less than 0.01% in liquid petroleum products less volatile than gas oils. There is no reason to doubt its applicability to filtered, used lubricating oils, but no systematic study of this application has been made. This method is more rapid than IP 148 and IP 149 and is to be preferred for routine purposes.
