Provides methods for calibrating, validating and checking gas chromatographs with particular emphasis on the analysis of light hydrocarbons in stabilized cured oil, IP 344. The methods are less rigorous on purely technical and theoretical grounds and avoid the explicit use of statistics. Instead, it uses the description and explanations more familiar in conventional instrument work and particular technical terms are defined in the test as necessary. The prime objectives in applying these methods are to provide a usable analyser giving meaningful results, and to assure the user and other interested parties that the analyser result can be quoted with at least the same confidence as the corresponding result by the standard test method.
