This method describes a procedure for determining the permittivity of petroleum bitumen of grades 35, 40 HD, 50, 70 and 100 penetration as defined in BS 3690:1989, 'Bitumens for Road Purposes.' The method for the determination of permittivity of bitumen using a glass cell has been deleted from this standard. This method, using a steel cell, was previously the preferred method.
