Gives requirements for fieldbus component parts and also defines the media and network configuration requirements needed to ensure agreed levels of data integrity prior to Data Link error checking and interoperability between devices at the Physical Layer. Conforms to Layer 1 of the OSI 7-layer model as defined by ISO 7498 except that frame delimiters are in the physical layer. This part should be read together with Part 1, Introductory Guide, Part 3, Data Link Service Definition, and Part 7, Fieldbus Management. Conformance testing requirements are contained in ISA-S50.02, Part 8.
