Covers control valves with bodies, cover plates, bonnets, and bottom flanges made of low and high alloy stainless steel, carbon steel, cast and ductile iron, and nickel-base alloy. Identifies requirements and definitions for standard hydrostatic shell testing of control valves by valve manufacturers to prove structural integrity and leak tightness of the valves' pressure retaining parts, as well as closure parts such as the valve body to bonnet joint, but excluding bellows, packings or other moving seals and packing leakoff connections. Bellows or similar moving stem seals can be pressure tested following assembly at a pressure to be agreed on by valve manufacturer and buyer. The requirements do not apply to pneumatic and hydraulic actuators and regulators.
