explores possible presentation formats for recipe procedures in batch process automation, based on the ISA-88.00.01-2010, Batch Control Part 1: Models and Terminology (formerly ANSI/ISA-S88.01-1995) and IEC standards. This standard discusses three main formats: textual lists, sequential function charts (SFC) and modified Gantt charts (in both horizontal and vertical orientations). It clarifies how each format fits different hierarchical levels of recipe procedures, phases, operations, unit procedures and overall recipe procedures, while highlighting advantages and limitations in depicting sequence, concurrency, timing and conditional logic. This document aims to illustrate these options without endorsing any specific approach, promoting further discussion toward standardization in future ISA S88 parts.
