La prsente partie de l'ISO 10303 spcifie les ressources lmentaires relatives la reprsentation des informations propres aux dessins techniques. Les lments suivants font partie du domaine d'application de la prsente partie de l'ISO 10303 :

  • l'information relative la dfinition, la description et la gestion d'un dessin et des feuilles dessin ;
  • les annotations fondamentales propres aux dessins techniques et leur agrgation avec plus d'annotations gnrales pour le dchiffrage des faits et prescriptions relatifs au produit ou l'interprtation d'un dessin ;
  • les annotations de dessins techniques utilises dans le dchiffrage des dimensions, tolrances et informations apparentes au mesurage de la dimension. Les lments suivants ne figurent pas dans le domaine d'application de la prsente partie de l'ISO 10303 :
  • l'information de gestion, fournie dans l'ISO 10303-41, telle que les changements qui engendrent les diffrents dessins, les approbations, les contrats d'excution des dessins techniques, la classification par critres de scurit, les personnes responsables, ainsi que leur rle ;
  • les vues et le mcanisme de visualisation pour le dchiffrage de la forme, fournis dans l'ISO 10303-46 ;
  • les annotations gnriques de style (c'est--dire les courbes, symboles, textes et divisions (hachures)), fournies dans l'ISO 10303-46 ;
  • les systmes de coordonne pour l'emplacement des annotations, et leurs relations, fournis dans l'ISO 10303-42 et l'ISO 10303-43.
