A Withdrawn Standard is one, which is removed from sale, and its unique number can no longer be used. The Standard can be withdrawn and not replaced, or it can be withdrawn and replaced by a Standard with a different number.

Establishes a vocabulary in English, French, and Russian with alphabetical indexes. The series consists of the parts 1 to 9. The terms and definitions are listed in a table which includes illustrations. In some illustrations, the component is highlighted to aid identification. ISO 2710 gives a classification of engines and defines basis terms of such engines, their working and characteristics.
