A Withdrawn Standard is one, which is removed from sale, and its unique number can no longer be used. The Standard can be withdrawn and not replaced, or it can be withdrawn and replaced by a Standard with a different number.

The Standard specifies the following characteristics of the oil: appearance, colour, odour, relative density at 20/20 C, refractive index at 20 C, optical rotation at 20 C, miscibility with 70 % (V/V) ethanol at 20 C, ester value after acetylation, carbonyl value. Most of the characteristics differ in dependence from the country of origin.
