This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies the single-acting air-cooled single-stage reciprocating air compressors having the maximum pressure of 200 to 1000 kPa (2 to 10 kgf/cm*2) and the single-acting air-cooled two-stage reciprocating air compressors having the maximum pressure of 700 to 1400 kPa (7 to 14 kgf/cm*2), combined with electric motors with a rated output of not more than 11 kW or internal combustion engines equivalent thereto, to be used mainly in painting, air-filling and other general works, hereinafter referred to as the \"compressors. The gas handled in the compressor shall be air having temperature of -15 to 40 degree C at the ordinary pressure. This standard also applies to the compressors for the same purposes that are delivered without the equipment of electric motors or internal combustion engines.
