This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies explosion-protected construction of electrical machinery and appliances, hereinafter referred to as the \"electrical apparatus\", which are used independently or as a part of other machine or an installation in hazardous area due to gas or vapour. The intrinsically-safe construction also applies to the construction of the intrinsically-safe apparatus and associated apparatus which are used in non-hazardous areas. This standard, however, is not applicable electrical apparatus for coal mine and those for ships.
