A Withdrawn Standard is one, which is removed from sale, and its unique number can no longer be used. The Standard can be withdrawn and not replaced, or it can be withdrawn and replaced by a Standard with a different number.

This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies explosion-protected construction of electrical machinery and apparatus for electric power systems which are used separately or as a part of other mechanical installation in a hazardous area where the gases and vapours specified in JIS C 0903 exist. The electrical machinery and apparatus for coal mines and for ships are, however, excluded. Matters not specified in this standard shall follow JIS C 0903 and the relevant standard to the electrical machinery or apparatus in question.
