This Standard is applicable to lead-acid batteries with a nominal voltage of 12 V, used for e.g. the starting of internal combustion engines, lighting, ignition of automobiles, etc. This Standard is not applicable to the valve-regulated lead-acid batteries and the lead-acid batteries used for the driving of rolling stock, two-wheeled vehicles, electric vehicles, etc.
