This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies the angled beam ultrasonic examination of longitudinal imperfections for seamless steel tubes and for welds of electric resistance welded steel tubes mainly 9.0 mm or over in outside diameter, 1.0 mm or over in thickness and 20 % or under in percentage ratio of thickness to outside diameter. The welded stainless steel tubes, however, are excluded form the application. Further, when the ultrasonic examination is especially specified from the purchaser in the case of exceeding 20 % in t/D, the examination may be executed by the method specified in Annex. General matters excepting these specified in this Standard shall be as specified in JIS Z 2344.
