This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies the protective coating and wrapping methods using the asphalt or asphalt enamel, hereinafter referred to as the \"asphalt\", unless particularly otherwise stated, for steel water pipes, hereinafter referred to as the \"pipes\". The interior coating for field jointing specified in this standard applies to the pipes of 800 a or larger in nominal diameter.
