This Standard establishes a system for the qualification and certification, by a certification body, of personnel to perform industrial non-destructive testing (NDT) using any of the following methods: a) radiographic testing; b) ultrasonic testing; c) magnetic particle testing; d) liquid penetrant testing; e) eddy current testing; f) strain measurement. The system described in this Standard may also apply to visual inspection (VT), leak testing (LT), neutron radiography (NT), acoustic emission (AT) and other NDT methods where independent certification programmes exist. In addition, it may also apply to specific NDT techniques such as ultrasonic thickness measurement, yoke method magnetic particle inspection, electricity method magnetic particle inspection, coil method magnetic particle inspection, solvent removing penetration inspection, water washing penetration inspection, inner coil eddy current inspection, electric resistance distortion measurement, etc. Where latitude is provided in the criteria within this Standard, the certification body shall have the final decision in determining specific requirements.
