This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies the significant test method to determine whether it can be said that a population variance (unknown) differs from (is either larger or smaller than) the value given as a standard (known) on the basis of the measured values obtained from the population (or from the lot that can be considered to represent it well) (one-sided significance test).
