This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies the significance test method for determining whether it can be said that there exists a difference between two population variances (unknown) on the basis of the measured values obtained from the respective populations (or from the lots that can be considered to represent them well) (two-sided significance test). The text of this standard describes the significance test method for the case where two sets of samples are equal in size and that for the case where they are unequal are given in Reference appended ti the end of this standard.
