This specification covers the parameters, design, fabrication, and tests of a light weight omnidirectional shipboard IFF antenna suitable for use with IFF transponders, IFF test sets and ISLS application. The object of this specification is to provide a light weight omnidirectional antenna for shipboard use that is compact, reliable, simple and inexpensive. The antenna shall be electrically and mechanically equivalent to, and interchangeable with, the existing AS-177 type omnidirectional IFF antennas.
