This specification covers a skid-mounted diesel-engine driven, air compressor for producing air suitable for breathing. Only commercial vendors approved by the Naval Sea Systems Command (CODE OOC) (NAVSEA), Alexandria, Virginia are to provide the subject unit. The Diving Equipment Authorized for Navy Use, 10 June 1987, NAVSEA Instruction 10560.2, is to be used when procuring the unit and repair/replacement parts. No variation or substitute is permitted due to the critical life support nature of the unit.
