This specification establishes the general requirements for positive-intrinsic-negative (pin) and avalanche photodiode (APD) fiber optic detectors. These optical detectors contain optical windows or integrally attached pigtail fibers for coupling optical power from the fiber optic link fiber into the detector. Pigtail fibers specificed herein are mechanically and optically compatible with the fibers specified in DOD-F-49291.
