This specification covers two wrought aluminum alloy armor plate for both welded and non-welded applications in nominal thicknesses from 0.250 to 3.000 inch, inclusive (see 6.2). The weldability of wrought aluminum alloy AA6055 armor has been determined for Class II armor for this thicknesses, only; 1.500”. The weldability of AA6061 wrought aluminum alloy armor has not been determined. Therefore, this alloy should be used as appliqué armor.
