This specification establishes the general requirements for light emitting diode (LED) fiber optic sources. These optical sources contain optical windows or integrally attached pigtail fibers for coupling the source optical power into the fiber optic link. Pigtail fibers specified herein are mechanically and optically compatible with the fibers specified in DOD-F-49291.
