Structural bearings, whether used in bridges or in other structures are applicable to this standard. However, it does not cover the following: bearings that transmit moments as a primary function; bearings for moving bridges; concrete hinges; seismic devices; and bearings that resist uplift. This standard is not intended to regulate temporary bearings but in this case it may be used as a guide (temporary bearings are bearings used during construction or repair and maintenance of structures). NOTE: The specification given in this standard, (although not necessary) they are not sufficient in themselves for the overall design of the structures and for the consideration of geotechnical aspects.
