Deze norm beschrijft de procedures voor afnamekeuring die kunnen worden toegepast op nieuwe kilowattuurmeters die in grote aantallen worden vervaardigd en geleverd. De norm beschrijft eveneens de procedure voor het onderzoek naar de overeenstemming met het type. In deze norm worden bepalingen vastgesteld voor afnamekeuring overeenkomstig verschillende procedures en methoden. De bijbehorende algemene eisen zijn in NEN 10521 vastgelegd. De norm is van toepassing op nieuwe kilowattuurmeters van klasse 2, berustend op het inductieprincipe, voor rechtstreekse netaansluiting voor enkel- of meervoudige tariefmeting van actieve elektrische energie met een wisselspanning van ten hoogste 600 V en een frequentie van 50 Hz.
