A Withdrawn Standard is one, which is removed from sale, and its unique number can no longer be used. The Standard can be withdrawn and not replaced, or it can be withdrawn and replaced by a Standard with a different number.

Deze norm is van toepassing op indirect werkende elektrische meetinstrumenten met een nulmethode, die een elektrische hulpvoeding nodig heeft. De nulstand kan wordenverkregen door vergelijking van: twee spanningen of stromen (elektrische balans); twee krachten of koppels (mechanische balans). Deze instrumenten kunnen de waarden van de gemeten grootheid aanwijzen of deze registreren als functie van de tijd. Deze twee functies kunnen in een instrument zijn gecombineerd.
