Deze norm geeft eisen voor opstelling, constructie, uitvoering en het gebruik van hefplateaus voor personenvervoer in verband met de veiligheid. De norm is van toepassing op niet met de hand aangedreven hefplateaus bestemd voor het verticaal of nagenoeg verticaal personenvervoer, anders dan over trappen, met een snelheid niet groter dan 0,1 m/s en met een hefhoogte niet groter dan 1,8 m.
