Deze norm legt de eisen en de beproeving vats van garnituren voor eenfasige sterkstroomkabels met geextrudeerde isolatie van vernet (cross-linked) polyetheen (XLPE) voor netten met een nominale spanning van 50, 110, 150 of 220 kV, met een effectief of een niet-effectief geaard sterpunt en geschikt voor ligging in de grond, in buizen, in lucht, in een droge of een natte omgeving. Aangezien de norm steeds tezamen met NEN 3630 zal worden gebruikt, is zo veel mogelijk dezelfde opbouw aangehouden. Onder garnituren wordt verstaan: moffen; eindsluitingen voor binnenopstelling; eindsluitingen voor buitenoplstelling; invoeringen voor met olie gevulde toestellen; invoeringen voor met gas gevulde toestellen.
