Deze norm beschrijft de eisen waaraan zinklagen die door sherardiseren zijn aangebracht, moeten voldoen, benevens methoden voor de beoordeling hiervan. Tevens worden de eisen beschreven waaraan het grondmateriaal moet voldoen. De norm is van toepassing op voorwerpen vervaardigd uit staal, gietijzer en gietstaal, die door deze zinklagen worden beschermd tegen atmosferische corrosie. De afmetingen van de voorwerpen worden slechts begrensd door de mogelijkheden van de sherardiseerinstallatie.
