Deze norm beschrijft een methode voor de bepaling van het vochtgehalte van veldvochtige grond. Tevens wordt de wijze van berekening van het gehalte aan droge stof beschreven. Deze norm is van toepassing op alle soorten veldvochtige grondmonsters genomen volgens NEN 5742 of NEN 5743. De norm is niet van toepassing op grond waar onder invloed van de zwaartekracht vocht uittreedt. Voor de bepaling van het vochtgehalte van dergelijke grond, zie NEN 6620.
