Defines basic requirements that ensure compatibility between rail systems complying with this standard and medical equipment, in order to permit the interchangeability of medical equipment from one rail system to another. Medical equipment can be attached to rail by rail clamps directly, or via other components of dimensions. Applicable to rail systems intended to be mounted horizontally. Not applicable to overhead rail systems for supporting curtains and infusion devices.
