A Withdrawn Standard is one, which is removed from sale, and its unique number can no longer be used. The Standard can be withdrawn and not replaced, or it can be withdrawn and replaced by a Standard with a different number.

NEN-EN-IEC 62684 specificeert de oplaad eisen zoals spanning en stroom maar ook de interface (Steker). The interface is grotendeels gebaseerd op de bekende USB steker met additionele eisen voor 'touch' telefoons. Europa loopt voorop in deze ontwikkeling. Het International Elektrotechnical Committee (IEC) zal nu op haar beurt proberen deze norm op mondiaal niveau te harmoniseren.
