Deze euronorm beschrijft een ultrasone-onderzoekmethode om inhomogeniteiten vast te stellen in onbeklede plaat met een nominale dikte van tenminste 6 mm in ongelegeerd staal of gelegeerd staal met uitzondering van austenitisch of ferritisch-austenitisch staal. Wat dit laatste betreft kan deze euronorm slechts worden toegepast onder voorwaarde dat het ruisniveau de ingestelde detectiedrempel niet overschrijdt.
