In dit deel worden eisen met betrekking tot beeldkwaliteit voor ontwerp en beoordeling vn monochrome beeldschermen en kleurenbeeldschermen vastgelegd. De eisen zijn geformuleerd in de vorm van prestatiespecificaties en in de beoordelingen worden beproevingsmethoden en metingen voor de controle van conformiteit beschreven. Hierbij moet worden opgemerkt dat de aanbevelingen op dit moment zijn gebaseerd op tekens uit de Latijnse, Cyrillische en Griekse alfabetten en op Arabische cijfers.
