Deze mededeling heeft ten doel een beschrijving te geven van de vergelijkingstabellen voor de hardheid en hun gebruik. Hierbij is de hardheidsmeting volgens Vickers als basis genomen, omdat zij het hardheidsgebied van staal volledig omvat. De in dit document opgenomen vergelijkingstabellen zijn uitsluitend van toepassing op niet-gelegeerd en zwak gelegeerd staal voor producten met homogene structuur en een dikte groter dan 2 mm.
