Specifies units of measure for the physical parameters and dimensionless quantities together with measurement conventions for linear and vector quantities. Rules are specified which standardize certain binary notations for the representation of numbers, discrete data alphanumeric data (including non-printing characters) and binary coded decimal numbers including some algebric characters. It applies to both Surface Ship and Submarine environments, and is intended for intra-ship digital data communications between devices, equipment, subsystems or systems which contain a data processing capability, eg a micro-processor with firmware. It is intended to be fully compatible with, and be the implementing document for STANAG 4222.
