La présente Norme européenne spécifie les caractéristiques, fixe les exigences et donne les méthodes d'essai pour les revêtements de sol stratifiés (tels que définis en 3.1). Elle comporte un système de classification, basé sur l'EN 685, définissant des exigences pratiques pour les zones et niveaux d'utilisation, afin d'indiquer dans quels cas les revêtements de sol stratifiés fournissent un service satisfaisant et d'encourager le consommateur à faire un choix informé.
