La présente Norme européenne spécifie les exigences de conception, d'essais et de marquage des soupapes de sûreté à action par ressort, utilisées pour les bouteilles de gaz de pétrole liquéfiés (GPL). Ces soupapes peuvent faire partie intégrante du robinet de la bouteille ou constituer un dispositif séparé. La présente Norme européenne n'exclut pas l'utilisation de dispositifs contre les surpressions de conceptions différentes à condition qu'ils garantissent le même niveau de sécurité.
