Applicable to isolators used in the field of fibre optics which have the following features: passive components which contain no opto-electronic or other transducing elements, non-reciprocal optical devices where each port is an optical fibre or optical fibre connector, or they have two optical ports for directionally transmitting optical power. Establishes uniform requirements for fibre optic isolator requirements and quality assessment procedures.
