This International Standard specifies a method of analysis by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), using either an internal standard or an external standard, for the determination of the bergapten content of essential oils of bergamot [Citrus aurantium ssp. bergamia (Risso and Poit.) Wight and Arn. ex Engl.], lemon [Citrus limon (L.) Burm. f.], bigarade (Citrus bigaradia Risso) and lime [Citrus aurantiifolia (Christm.) Swingle and Citrus latifolia Tanaka], completely or partially deprived of bergapten.
