    La présente Norme internationale spécifie les caractéristiques générales des bancs et méthodes d'essai des bougies de préchauffage du type à fourreau. Elle est applicable aux bougies de préchauffage du type à fourreau conformes à l'ISO 6550-1, à l'ISO 6550-2 et à l'ISO 6550-3 utilisées dans les moteurs diesels (à allumage par compression) équipant les véhicules munis de systèmes d'alimentation avec une tension nominale de 12 V ou de 24 V.
