This standard shall specify the following: (1) The minimum selection, care, and maintenance require‐ments for structural firefighting protective ensembles and proximity firefighting protective ensembles, and the indi‐ vidual ensemble elements that include garments, helmets, gloves, footwear, and interface components that are certified as compliant with NFPA 1971 or NFPA 1970 (1971).
