Gives procedures for manual, pulse-echo, ultrasonic test of forgings made from austenitic and austenitic-ferritic stainless steel. Immersion testing, a mechanized scanning technique, can be used, but must be agreed between buyer and supplier. Covers four kinds of forgings classified in accordance with their shape and production method. Types, 1, 2 and 3 are simple shapes and type 4 applies to complex shapes. Rolled bars, closed die forgings and turbine rotor and generator forgings are not included.
