Diese Norm gilt für Wellpappenerzeugungsmaschinen, Pappen- und Wellpappenverarbeitungsmaschinen wie Wellpappenerzeugungsanlagen, Faltschachtelklebemaschinen, Druckslotter, Rotationsstanzen und Kombinationen (Inline-Maschinen), Stanztiegel mit Handanlage, Stanzautomaten und Hülsenwickelmaschinen. Dieses Dokument ist gemeinsam mit EN 1010-1 anzuwenden. Beide Teile zusammen behandeln alle signifikanten Gefährdungen, die auf Wellpappenerzeugungs-, Pappen- und Wellpappenverarbeitungsmaschinen zutreffen, wenn sie bestimmungsgemäss und entsprechend den vorhersehbaren Bedingungen des Herstellers verwendet werden. Die spezifischen Anforderungen in EN 1010-5 haben Vorrang vor entsprechenden Anforderungen in EN 1010-1. Dieses Dokument befasst sich nicht mit Risiken, die durch Lärm entstehen, der von den Maschinen erzeugt wird. Dies ist grundlegend in EN 1010-1 behandelt. Jedoch gibt es für Wellpappenanlagen und Flachbettstanzen Anforderungen bezüglich Lärmminderung.
