Festgelegt werden die Leistungskenngrössen von Bauteilen/Produkten, die für die Auslegung und Bemessung von Lüftungsanlagen für Wohnungen erforderlich sein können, um die ermittelten Behaglichkeitsbedingungen bezüglich Temperatur, Luftgeschwindigkeit, Luftfeuchte und Schall im Aufenthaltsbereich zu erreichen. Dabei werden die Leistungskenngrössen (verbindlich vorgeschrieben oder frei wählbar), die nach den entsprechenden Prüfverfahren zu messen und darzustellen sind definiert. Die vorliegende Norm gilt beispielsweise für Aussenwand- und Überströmluftdurchlässe, Abluft- und Zuluftdurchlässe, Dunstabzugshauben, Ventilatoren und Baueinheiten für Abluftanlagen für eine einzelne Wohnung.
