    Diese Europäische Norm legt Anforderungen an visuell und maschinell sortiertes Bauholz mit rechteckigem Querschnitt fest, welches durch Sägen, Hobeln oder andere Produktionsverfahren hergestellt wurde, und dessen Massabweichungen den Soll-Massen nach EN 336 entsprechen oder geringer sind. Diese Norm legt diejenigen Merkmale fest, für die Mindestwerte für die visuellen Sortierregeln angegeben werden müssen. Gegen Feuer oder holzzerstörende Pilze und/oder Insekten vorbeugend chemisch behandeltes Bauholz wird in dieser Norm nicht behandelt. Keilgezinktes Bauholz ist nicht Gegenstand dieser Norm.
