Diese Norm legt Anforderungen an die angenommene Nutzungsdauer fest und dient ausserdem den Lieferanten bei diesbezüglichen Voraussagen. Sie ist nur für Lärmschutzeinrichtungen aus Werkstoffen anzuwenden, die in Normen enthalten sind, die eine Vorhersage der Nutzungsdauer ermöglichen. Ausgenommen davon sind Werkstoffe, die die nach EN 1794-1 und -2 geforderten nichtakustischen Eigenschaften der Lärmschutzeinrichtung nicht beeinträchtigen.
