Für erdverlegte Fernwärmenetze bis DN 600 sind die Anforderungen und Prüfmethoden für gerade, werksmässig gedämmte Mantelrohre festgelegt, die aus einem Stahlrohr als Mediumrohr, einer Polyurethan-Hartschaumdämmung und einem Mantelrohr aus Polyethylen hoher Dichte bestehen. Die Stahl- und Dämmwerkstoffe sowie die Prüfungen und Prüfmethoden sind ebenso angeführt wie die Verarbeitungsvorschriften. Die Lebensdauer in Abhängigkeit von der Betriebstemperatur ist erwähnt. Die erforderliche Kennzeichnung durch den Hersteller wird angeben. In den informativen Anhängen A, B und C sind der Zusammenhang von Betriebstemperatur und Lebensdauer, die Abschätzung der Lebensdauer selbst sowie die Qualitätssicherung beschrieben. Diese Norm ist Basis der Normenreihe für Verbundmantelrohrsysteme und wird durch Festlegungen für weitere Bauteile ergänzt. In diese ÖNORM wurde die Europäische Änderung A1:2005 eingearbeitet. wobei Änderungen zum Vorwort und zur Einleitung, zu 4.3.2.1, 4.3.2.2, 4.5.2 und zu Anhang D durchgeführt wurden. Die Unterabschnitte 4.3.2.3 alt und 5.4.1 alt wurden gänzlich gestrichen. Weiters wurde in diese ÖNORM die Europäische Änderung A2:2006 eingearbeitet, wobei Änderungen zu 4.2.1 und zum Anhang H durchgeführt wurden.
