Die Norm beschreibt die Zielsetzung und die funktionellen Anforderungen und gibt Empfehlungen für die Kontrolle und Eindämmung von Bränden und Explosionen auf Off-shore-Anlagen, welche für Kohlenwasserstoff-Produktion verwendet werden. Die Grundlage für diese Norm ist ein Ansatz, wonach die Auswahl für die Brand- und Explosionskontrolle sowie-eindämmung durch die Risikoanlage auf der Off-shore-Anlage bestimmt wird.
